Man seen armed with machete in Athelstan Road, Cliftonville near Margate, amid reports of assault

A man was seen roaming a residential street armed with a machete amid a report of an assault.

Police have arrested two men after a man was injured in an alleged assault in Athelstan Road, Cliftonville.

Kent Police were called to Athelstan Road in Cliftonville, near Margate, after reports of a person armed with a machete

A machete was found by officers following the incident shortly after 11pm last Wednesday.

Police have confirmed two men from Margate, aged 18 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and taken into custody.

The 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault and a public order offence.

A man suffered an injury to his hand and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Both men were bailed pending further enquiries.
