Police chase ends with car crashing into van in Margate Road, Ramsgate

A police chase has ended with a car smashing into a van on a busy crossroads, and then ploughing through a garden fence.

The crash happened at the Allenby Road junction in Margate Road, Ramsgate, which was closed off in the aftermath.

The driver and passenger of the car have been taken to hospital. The pair have also been arrested.

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "At 4.22pm officers came across a vehicle which failed to stop when requested to do so in Ramsgate.

"The vehicle was involved in a collision with a van before coming to a stop near the junction of Allenby Road and Margate Road.

"The driver and passenger from the first vehicle have been taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"Inquiries are continuing."

The road remained closed until just before 7pm. Delays have now cleared.
