Police are investigating a shooting at Dreamland in Margate after an eight-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were said to have been hit with airgun pellets.

The incident happened shortly before 3.30pm yesterday and the pair are believed to have been shot at with a BB gun.

Officers were called to the scene and some rides were stopped briefly but neither victim needed hospital treatment.

Dominic Johnson wrote on Facebook: "What absolute scumbags would shoot a small child with a BB gun.

"Half the rides closed and police on the scene with a small child injured and traumatised."

It is suspected the weapon may have been fired from nearby flats.

Police say that inquiries into the alleged assault are continuing.
