A Margate mum who supported her pop star daughter’s dream has died after a 12-month battle with lung cancer.
Sophia Tarjomani, known as Mummy OTY to the fan base of The X Factor’s Only The Young, passed away on Sunday.
The mother of band member Parisa and band manager Zahra was one of the biggest supporters of the group.
She allowed band members Charlie George from Chartham near Canterbury, Betsey-blue English from Brighton, and Mikey Bromley who comes from Carlisle to live in her home along with Parisa as they began their pop career, and she had a Twitter page dedicated to their push for stardom.
A statement from Parisa on the official Only The Young Twitter page on Sunday said: “So sad to say that my incredible mum passed away today.
“Heaven has gained an angel. I love you forever, sleep well - P.”
An extended statement on the Twitter page said: “I will never forget that gorgeous personality and infectious smile that brightened up anyone’s dark days.
“To the most incredible woman I know, Sophia Tarjomani I will never forget you and I promise I will strive to be like you every second of every day.
“I pray that I’ll be lucky enough to spend some time in your company again but for now, I will miss you.
“Thank you my angel I love you!”
After the Margate mother’s diagnosis last year, the band raised £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Teenage Cancer Trust through organising charity concerts.
