Police launch investigation into Margate allotment fires

A probe has been launched into "suspicious" fires that engulfed four allotment sheds.

Crews were called to the scene in Dane Valley Road, Margate, just after 7.40pm yesterday.

Four fire engines battled the blazes for about an hour before extinguishing the flames.

And now police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: "At about 7.45pm yesterday officers became aware of a fire at the allotments.

"It was confirmed as suspicious by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and is now being investigated by police."

Officers are calling for anyone with information about the fire to call them on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/66828/20, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
