A pub has shown its patriotism ahead of the Jubilee weekend by painting a massive Union Jack on the front of it.

The red, white and blue of the UK's flag has been illustrated on the Honeysuckle Inn, in Ramsgate.

Honesysuckle Inn manager Darren Ryn said the locals love the painting. Picture: Darren Ryn

The impressive site, which took six hours to paint and can be found in Honeysuckle Road, was done for Queen's Platinum Jubilee this weekend.

Pub manager Darren Ryn said owners Joe and Kat were the brains behind the idea and wanted to have a bit of fun with their celebrations.

He said: "We made the decision to paint it to show our support to the Queen and all she has done.

"But we wanted to have some fun and enjoyment with it as well.

"The locals absolutely love it, social media has gone crazy.

"It was worth every penny..."

"It cost a fair bit, but some of the locals helped out and it was worth every penny."

Elsewhere in the county people are gearing themselves up for the four-day weekend with a range of events.

Between Thursday and Sunday Kent is bursting at the seams with proms, concerts, carnivals and fetes to celebrate The Queen's historic 70 years on the throne and this is alongside the hundreds of smaller street parties and community lunches that are being organised.

But it's not all be jubilation for the people of Kent.

In one village a local group's work to display a life size mannequin of the Queen was destroyed within 24 hours.

The people of Hartley, near Gravesend and Dartford, were left shocked after the mannequin and crocheted bunting was vandalised less than a day after being erected.
