Campaigners have called for a rally outside a police station in support of a schoolgirl who was viciously attacked.

Tasha Knight appealed to protesters to descend on Margate Police Station armed with banners in support of Evee-Anne Cooper, the assaulted 12-year-old.

The rallying cry comes after footage showed Evee-Anne begging for the beating to stop, but her attacker - a teenage girl - punches her repeatedly in the face as she holds her head up by her hair and stamps on her as she lies on the ground.

Ms Knight's appeal on Facebook says: "Please bring banners but please remember this is not a show, we are a big community and we will get these (offenders) off the streets.

Directly addressing Evee-Anne she adds: "We will get justice for you."

Attracting a huge wave of sympathy from celebrities and the public, a Gofundme page has drummed up almost £4,500 in three days for the Charles Dickens School pupil.

X Factor finalist Talia Dean is the latest celebrity to speak out in support of the victim.

In a storm of words the singer said the assault left her feeling "cold" and called on the parents to "sort your kids out," after watching footage of the attack.

The series 14 finalist released a three and a half minute video tirade on Twitter to her 11,000 followers.

During the video Talia says: "It made me feel cold, like something just ran through my body, it's absolutely disgusting.

"I feel like if you're going to allow your child to be a gobby bully, and you're not going to educate them, you are not going to tell them the repercussions of what that bullying will do, you will grow that child into a bullying adult.

"Educate your flaming children now, because this world will turn children into bullying adults.

"This is a message from me to the parents.

"I'm not going to sit there and slate that kid that I've just witnessed punch seven bells out of that little kid.

"I'm so angry with that child but I'm going to shout out to whoever is responsible to her - sort your children out.

"It's about time we stood up and took responsibility for these ridiculous kids around us."

In the video Dean admits she has been both a bully and victim of bullying, and so knows "from both ends" it can trigger mental problems in children.

Boxer Ricky Hatton joined the call on Saturday night, telling his 554,000 Twitter followers that her attackers should be "locked up forever."

Evee-Anne's dad Paul Cooper replied to the Tweet with the a jokey image of his daughter dressed in boxing gear.

He said: "Evee-Anne wants to show you she has stolen her dad's old gloves to say thank you for caring."

Hugh Grant on Saturday afternoon tweeted: "Arrest the parents" after police released on bail three girls arrested in connection with Evee-Anne Cooper's assault.

Other celebrities to join the cause include former EastEnder Daniella Westbrook, who said: "Whatever awareness I can raise, I will."

The attack was filmed in Arlington Gardens in Margate at 3.30pm on Thursday. KentOnline has decided not to show the footage.

Three girls, aged 13, 14 and 15, from Margate, were arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail.

The protest is due to take place outside Margate Police Station in Fort Hill at 2pm next Saturday.
