Dame Janet Primary Academy School in Ramsgate evacuated over bomb threat

A mum has spoken of her fears at the gates of a school that was evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Kent Police say anonymous calls were made regarding explosive devices in Dane Janet Primary Academy.
Leela Baverstock, 33, is mum to eight-year-old Kevin Crook who is a pupil at the Ramsgate school.
She said: “All we have been told is the school had a scare.
“They sent out an email to the parents to come and collect their children from school.
“I was quite worried and thought it has got to be something but obviously have no idea what it is.”
Police officers were called to the school in Ramsgate after an incident was reported at 10am.
Pupils and staff initially gathered on the school field following an evacuation of the building by the school while the search was carried out.
The school since took the decision to send all pupils home.

Head teacher at Dame Janet Primary Academy Sam Atkinson said: “In accordance with procedure the school was this morning evacuated in response to a threatening phonecall.
“The safety of our students is paramount and after a thorough investigation of the school grounds and buildings by the police the decision was taken to send children home.
“Dame Janet Primary Academy will remain closed for the remainder of the day and the school will open as normal after half term.
“We cannot comment any further due to ongoing police investigations.”
Officers also went to Bower Grove School in Fant Lane, Maidstone, after they received a telephone call at 10.15am.
