Rare footage has emerged showing a family of foxes playing together on a beach.

Although more frequently found rifling through bins, this group – known as a skulk – was spotted at Ramsgate port.

The mischievous creatures were seen bounding around the shingle and play fighting on Friday (September 22) evening.

Usually timid animals, the foxes showed off their exuberant side as they enjoyed their trip to the beach unperturbed by humans.

It is not the first time the brush-tailed animals have been spotted at the port, with one cub requiring rescue from the fire service after getting stranded on a patch of seaweed.

Last month the animals were spotted getting into trouble elsewhere in the county when a woman found them playing on the roof of her car.

The footage on the beach was captured by bird watcher Keith Ross, who said the setting made the animals resemble desert foxes.

Keith said: “Wonderful to see a family of foxes enjoying themselves in the sand piles.”
