Two people and their dog were the third group to get cut off by the tide at Dumpton Gap in the last month.

Ramsgate Lifeboat crew were called at 12.57pm due to reports of two people and a dog stranded due to the tide.

On arrival, the Inshore Lifeboat found the people had managed to make their own way to a safe area but the dog was too scared of the water to move.

When the crew were unable to reach it, a mobile coastguard unit were able to lift the dog to safety.

This was the third time in the last month people have been cut off from the tide in the same area.

On two separate occasion a lady from London with her two children had to be rescued by boat and a local lady was able to wade ashore safely with her dog when the tide took her by surprise.

A spokesman for RNLI Ramsgate said: “Please check the tide tables before walking around our coastline.

“Details are posted every day on our RNLI Ramsgate website and Facebook page.

“We ask that you carry a means of communication and please always respect the water.”

The RNLI is a charity and run by donations from the public and volunteers giving up their time.
