Police appeal for witnesses after 'boy hit by car' in Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate.

A teenage boy remains in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after emergency crews including police and ambulances were called to Westgate Bay Avenue near the Beach Road junction in Westgate at about 5.45pm yesterday.

The 14-year-old was taken to a London hospital in a serious condition.

The road was closed after the collision which is thought to have happened after the boy got off a bus.

A police spokesman said: "A 14-year-old male pedestrian from the local area is in a critical condition in hospital after being involved in a collision with a silver Ford Mondeo."
