Singer Natalie Evans is one of the country’s youngest charity trustees.
Now 19, she was a regular visitor to Thanet’s Pie Factory youth music project and became a leader at the Vocal Expressions workshops.
The organisers were so impressed with her enthusiasm and dedication that they invited her to become a trustee to help guide and plan the charity.
Natalie said: “I went to Pie Factory workshops when I was younger and from that I started working as a singing workshop leader. Pie Factory is a very important part of my life as it has given me lots of opportunities that I would have never have been able to do. I now have the privilege of being a Trustee. I am looking forward to this role and hope that I can make a difference in the best way I can.”
Caroline O’Reilley from Pie Factory said: “We are confident that Natalie will show the same passion, initiative and confidence in her capacity as Trustee as she does in her role as singing workshop leader.”
Pie Factory Music also operates a youth forum, which has been set up to involve young people up to the age of 18 regarding feedback on workshops, they would like to see happen and where. The forum has a core group of seven young people, aged 14 – 18, who meet at regular intervals to discuss issues that may have arisen.
