Sporting stars from across the district celebrated their success at Thanet Sports Awards in Margate’s Winter Gardens on Friday.

The sixth annual event was staged by Thanet District Council in partnership with the authority’s Sports Matters team to promote and recognise achievement in sport throughout Thanet during the last year.

Scores of local competitors, coaches and volunteers attended the evening, hosted by radio presenter Johnny Lewis, who introduced the nominees in 12 categories, ranging from disabled sportsperson of the year to young team of the year.

This year it attracted more nominations than ever and more than 400 guests and nominees packed out the main hall at the Winter Gardens.
