A spurned lover who posted personal photographs of an ex-girlfriend to 150 of her friends and family has been branded as “despicable and spiteful”.

Heroy Bygraves felt angry the relationship ended so slashed her car tyres, cut up her clothes and smashed her computer, before making public her private pictures.

Now a judge has heard his act of revenge cost the embarrassed woman her job – and led to her fleeing Kent.

Bygraves, 31, of Harold Road, Cliftonville has now been jailed for 14 months after being found guilty of distributing private photographs – a law introduced two years ago.

Judge James O’Mahony told him he had been in an intimate and loving relationship with the victim and “as a matter of real trust” intimate photographs were taken.

“Those photographs were entirely private and she made sure that you knew that you were being not to abuse that trust,” he said.

“You then distributed those photographs to up to 150 people including her family and friends and even her boss.

“One can only imagine her embarrassment and she ended up losing her job.”

The court heard how he had been given a community order by another court after admitting a charge of criminal damage...and the pictures were posted days later.

Bygraves had pleaded not guilty at his trial at Canterbury Crown Court trying to claim his victim had posted her own photographs.

The judge added: “It could only have been you who did this yet you had the effrontery to try to turn the tables on your former girlfriend and you made a ridiculous suggestion that she had set the whole thing up.

“You forced her to give evidence at your trial in a public place.

“What an experience that must have been and only now have you accepted your responsibility.

“So I cannot accept you have shown any remorse. You set out to cause maximum damage to her.

“This is a severe breach of trust and was extremely spiteful and nasty.

“It has also had caused her considerable harm she was left humiliated and is now devastated.”
