A friend of a mum-of-three allegedly murdered by her boyfriend broke down as he told a jury of the last moments of her life.

Kaine Blissett had been drinking with tragic Samantha Murphy and her partner Thomas Allen - the man accused of killing her - before the alleged attack.

As they were talking in a house in Elfrida Close, Margate, the couple began arguing over allegations of cheating.

Mr Blissett told Maidstone Crown Court today: "I told them that I am not getting involved and later walked away."

He went to a nearby house but heard shouts and discovered his sister, Angel, had suffered an epileptic fit.

"I walked in and saw my sister on the floor," he recalled.

"She had a cut over her eyebrow. I went to put her in the recovery position.

"As I was doing that, Samantha and Tom were fighting in the kitchen. I am standing at the door. I saw Tom attacking Sam."

Mr Blissett added: "Tom had a handful of Sam's hair. It was hectic. He had what looked like a cup in his hand, trying to hit Sam who was fighting back.

"She was crouched and had blood on her head. She got kicked in the stomach and leg."

He said he then punched Allen in an attempt to stop the attack on Ms Murphy.

"I punched Tom in the face to get him off her," he said.

"It had no effect on him. I then chucked a bottle at him, which hit him.

"I punched him a few more times and then I had to help Angel and we stopped fighting and picked her up, together with Tom and Sam."

As they led Angel away, Tom let go of her and continued fighting with his girlfriend.

Mr Blissett said he and Tom, 38, had another scrap in the middle of the road, as his ill sister lay on the floor nearby.

"I punched him five to 10 times as Angel lay on the ground," he said.

"Tom was knocked to the ground but got back up on a number of occasions. I was punching him because he was attacking Sam.

"I told him to go back to his house, which he did and slammed the door. I went into my mum's house with Angel and Sam.

"We were together for 15 minutes and then I heard a loud bang and Sam and I went to the front door to see a foot sticking through a panel.

"Tom had a handful of Sam's hair. It was hectic. He had what looked like a cup in his hand, trying to hit Sam who was fighting back..."

Sam and Tom were having an argument through the door and she told him to f*** off home," he claimed.

"He then got his foot stuck and was trying to pull it away."

Mr Blissett then broke down in the witness box as he recalled Sam at the front door saying she had been stabbed, before she fell to the floor.

He added that he tried to stem the blood as the emergency services were called.

The prosecution alleges Allen stabbed Ms Murphy, 37, in her thigh, severing an artery.

Allen, of Elfrida Close, denies murder.
