A teenager has described the moment he was attacked with a knife by three hooded robbers as he walked home after a night out.
The trio threatened the teenager and slashed his clothing, stealing his mobile phone and wallet.
Macauley Sullivan, 19, was approached by three men at about 1.20am in Margate Road as he walked home. They asked him if he would give them a cigarette.
When he said no, one of the attackers punched him in the face before the other two joined in and one brandished a knife.
They held a knife to his stomach whilst he handed over his wallet and the iPhone 5s.
Mr Sullivan, of Mallory Close, Ramsgate, said: “I was terrified, there were three lads walking behind me and one asked for a cigarette so I said no, then about a minute up the road one of them turned around and punched me in the head.
“I started swinging back and I didn’t think it’d be more than that until all three got involved and then I saw the knife.

“They asked for my stuff so I gave it to them and ran home.
“I was unaware of the damage that had been done to my clothing until I got home. I’m just lucky that it was my clothing and not actually me.”
After Macauley arrived home, he discovered he was covered in blood and had rips in his grey hoodie.
The Ramsgate teenager took a photograph of his blood-stained jumper, which also showed the slash marks to the front pocket and chest area, allegedly made by the knife during the violent robbery.
The Saga Insurance employee said: “I don’t feel confident about going out anymore, I certainly wouldn’t voluntarily walk back on my own now.
“I have been assaulted before on Halloween a couple of years back but I just thought it’s one of those things that happens.
“As soon as a knife gets involved though it completely changes things and makes you more scared.”
Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: “Kent Police is investigating a report of a robbery believed to have taken place between 1.10am and 1.30am on January 30 in Margate Road, Ramsgate.
“The victim reports he was approached by three men asking for a cigarette.
“When he refused he said he was punched and threatened with a knife.
“His wallet containing cash and a mobile phone was taken during the incident.”
Anyone with information is urged to get in contact with police quoting ZY/3255/16.
