A299 Thanet Way closed in both directions due to police incident

The A299 Thanet Way is closed in both directions as police deal with an "incident".

There are reports of slow traffic between the A28 Canterbury Road at St Nicholas At Wade Roundabout and the A253 Monkton Roundabout.

A witness has reported seeing up to eight police cars, ambulances and fire engines at the scene.

A tent is also said to have been erected.

The nature of the incident is not yet known.

A fire service spokesman said: "We were called at 10.16am to the A299 at St Nicholas at Wade to assist police.

"We sent one fire engine which has now left the scene."

Police have been contacted for more information.
