Mindless louts left a pensioner terrified after they lobbed a brick through the window of a moving bus during rush hour.

The missile was hurled at the vehicle, said to contain young children and babies in buggies, at the Tesco roundabout in Westwood, Broadstairs, just after 5.30pm yesterday.

Both incidents happened near Westwood Cross shopping centre

The daughter of an elderly passenger took to Facebook to say her father “almost had the life scared out of him”, as the brick landed close to his seat.

“My 75-year-old dad was on a bus at Westwood roundabout during rush-hour traffic when a brick was launched through the window, right where he was sitting,” the social media user said.

“It’s lucky he wasn’t hit, but he almost had the life scared out of him.

“There were small children and babies in buggies on that bus. I dread to think what could have happened.”

Bus operator Stagecoach has confirmed the incident took place yesterday, before more stones were chucked at one of its vehicles at about 8.15pm.

The firm says that on this occasion it took place close to the Westwood Cross shopping centre bus hub.

“There were two incidents in which stones were thrown at buses in the Westwood area yesterday evening,” a spokesman for the company said.

“Whoever is responsible may not realise the severity of their actions.

“Using stones as missiles and targeting moving vehicles is very serious and could endanger the safety of people in the vehicle and other road users.

“We've passed information on to the police and we encourage anyone who knows anything to contact them."

Stagecoach has received no reports of any injuries to passengers travelling on the vehicles at the time.

Police have been approached for comment.
