A town centre car park is set to shut during the weekend to make way for film crews.

The Vere Road parking area in Broadstairs will close during all of Saturday (May 11) and all of Sunday (May 12).

It is understood a well-known mobile network provider is shooting a “positive commercial”.

Remaining tight-lipped over the firm’s identity, casting agent Alessana Inèz Hall, said: “It will be a seaside scene to capture all the best things about classic seafront.

“There will be families, pensioners, and people of all ages and walks of life.

“We wanted to cast local people in it who are authentic to the roles, such as sunbathers and a real Elvis tribute artist.

“It will all be very positive.”

Ms Inez Hall was looking for residents to star in the production, such as metal detectorists and couples, but casting has now closed.

It’s not the first time camera crews have rolled in to picturesque Broadstairs.

Love Island stars Ekin-Sue and Davide were spotted in Morelli’s Ice Cream Parlour last year while filming an antiques show.

Parts of Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light, starring Olivia Colman, also featured the town.

It comes after Middle Street Car Park in Deal was recently transformed into a film set as the cast and crews of ITV’s Unforgotten arrived.
