Trains halted between Broadstairs and Margate after lorry hits bridge

Trains were brought to a halt after a lorry hit a bridge.

The incident happened near Broadstairs shortly before 10am.

Services stopped between the town’s station and Margate, while rail staff worked on the scene.

Tracks are understood to have reopened now, but some trains may be delayed.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, a Southeastern spokesman said: “A lorry has collided with a bridge near Broadstairs.

“After an inspection of the bridge, the line has reopened.

“There are delays and alterations to some services as we work to return services to normal.”
