A "fun and brilliant" father-of-four has been named as the man tragically found dead by the side of the Thanet Way yesterday.

Michael Terraforte was a much-loved member of the BXUK (Beachcross UK) scene and rode motorbikes on the sand under the moniker crash100.

He had a reputation as a fearless entertainer who was well-liked on and off the track.

Michael Terraforte was a star of the motocross scene

Tony Nash who organises the long-running Margate Motocross says the biking community has been left reeling over the loss of one of its most popular stars.

He said: "It is so shocking because he was always so full of life and fun - he was always great to be with on and off the track.

"Michael had competed with us for the past seven years but his fame stretched internationally.

"He played to the crowd and was brilliant; they loved him for it. He was a star of the scene.

"Two fans from France have already contacted us to ask about the funeral and they will absolutely come - that's how much he was loved.

"He was the most entertaining rider and he will be very much missed.

"If we come back to Margate Main Sands next year we will make sure there is a very special tribute for him."

A loving father, Michael hit the headlines 17-months ago when he was forced to deliver his daughter after being told there were no beds at the QEQM.

He described at the time how his experience of breeding dogs helped with remaining calm throughout the experience.

Michael was found near the A299 between Monkton and the St Nicholas Roundabout after being reported missing on Monday.

The road was shut in both directions while police investigated.

His death is not being described as suspicious.
