Get out those dusters now and rummage in the attic for all those potential hidden treasures.

A charity antiques valuation day on Saturday could help you turn them into cash and support local charities at the same time.

Broadstairs Rotary Club has invited TV auctioneers and antique experts Catherine
Southon and Mark Stacey to the Charles Dickens School, in Broadstairs Road, from 10.30am to 4pm.

The pair are well known on BBC shows Bargain Hunt, Flog It and the Antiques Roadshow.

Rotarians hope the day will prove a great success. It is their next big event, following their Christmas sleigh fundraiser which raised more than £4,000.

All profits are split between local charities.

Rotarian Albert Smith said: “We are really excited about this, it should be a great event.

“It is an excellent opportunity for local people to bring along their valuable and find out what they are worth.

“They may even have a chance to sell them on the day to our valuers.”

Entry fee is £5 per person, which covers a maximum of three items for valuation. There will be an extra charge of £2 per item if people wish to bring along more than three for valuation. A busy day is anticipated and early arrival is advised.
