Ramsgate: two men charged following vehicle theft and robbery

Two men have been charged after it was reported a woman was robbed at knifepoint.

The alleged robbery happened in Cannon Road, Ramsgate, at noon yesterday.

Two men, one reportedly holding a knife, approached a woman by her car and demanded she hand over her handbag.

They took the bag but then dropped it and made off empty-handed.

Soon after, police received a report of a theft of a Peugeot delivery van from Margate Road, Ramsgate.

The vehicle was later discovered in Princess Margaret Avenue, Ramsgate, and two men, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and robbery.

The two men, Mark Roy Ellis, aged 52, and Aaron David Ayres, aged 37, both of no fixed address, have each been charged with robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Medway magistrates via virtual court on Wednesday, May 17.
