Margate’s Winter Gardens is embracing the Halloween season with scary attractions, roaming characters and a laser run zone.

After Zombie Apocalypse sold out the venue last year, organisers are promising bigger and scarier evenings of terror.

But a similar spookfest at nearby Dreamland will also be vying for victims.

The newly-launched theme park will transform into a "festival of fear" for its Screamland event from October 16 until October 31.

Up the road, the Winter Gardens' Hellgate event will take place between 6.30pm and 10pm from October 27 to 31 and early bird tickets are now on sale.

Entertainments manager and Hellgate producer Paul Palmer said: “I am thrilled to be bringing our sell-out scare attraction back to Margate for its second year.

“After last year’s overwhelming response to our Zombie Apocalypse event we have decided to return with a completely new and immersive sets of scares.

“We have a completely different layout this year, offering a full evening of terror with not one but three story based thrillers!”

Entertainment will include the Bloody Boulevard with Scare Fair stalls, the Trick or Treat Street Theatre and the new Laser Zombie Run Zone, with three new attractions due to be revealed soon.

There will also be themed food and drink and games and vendors each night.

Mr Palmer added: “Given the tremendous support we received last year, we are extremely excited to be back.

“Last year was just a taste of what’s in store. This year will be bigger, badder and bloodier!

“We can’t wait to be a part of what is certain to be a huge Halloween for Margate with our all new Hellgate event plus Dreamland, Old Town Zombie Walk & Tudor House all hosting events this October.

“Margate will be the scare destination of the South East with something for everyone.”

Hardcore scare fans will be able to buy a VIP pass with priority queue jump and unlimited visits to scare attractions, on a first come first serve basis.

A venue pass is also available for those who are only interested in the street theatre and fair stalls and early bird rates are available before September 14.

Information is available at www.halloweenmargate.com or on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/HalloweenMargate.
