A police crackdown on sexual activity at the public toilets in Minster has seen one man cautioned and three others warned.

The operation followed complaints from local residents about “inappropriate liaisons” and explicit graffiti and advertisements on the walls.

Posters had been placed at the toilets in the High Street, warning that such activities were both offensive and against the law, and that action would be taken.

Undercover observations have since been carried out. They have led to one man from the village receiving a caution for sexual activity in a toilet and three other men receiving warnings.

Sgt Rhiannan Simpson said: “The people willingly doing this should think carefully before using any public convenience in this way as we will deal with this seriously.”

Health outreach workers have visited Minster and consultation groups have been held in the local gay community, in an effort to provide additional support.
