Weird and wonderful Thanet - Corky's view
Published: 09:49, 19 August 2008
We’ve been talking about some weird and wonderful things going on around Thanet over the last couple of weeks.
We’ve had another great Broadstairs Folk week – it just seems to get bigger and better every year and on top of the this the Royal harbour in Ramsgate hosted Ramsgate week which I understand is second only to Cowes week in the UK.
Johnny Lewis from kmfm breakfast popped in to see Dave and the guys at the Northern Belle pub in Margate to make a cheque presentation of the £1,900 they raised for the hospice. The money was raised by pub regulars through sponsored activities including a walk from Margate to Reculver and back, a raft race, and The Thanet Loop pub crawl. Dave was also celebrating five years at the pub and turned the beer prices back to 2003 – shame he hadn’t been at the pub for 20 years!
And one of the most bizarre stories of the week was the man who left two sets of clothing on Margate’s beach following some late night yoga – the discovery of his clothes sparked a massive search along the coast. He reported in to police the following morning wearing only his boxer shorts to claim the clothing and tell police he’d forgotten where he’d left them. Now I ask you, two sets of clothes? Does this guy need two sets because he loses his clothing on a regular basis?
