Margate: Woman arrested after being pulled from the sea near Marine Drive

A woman has been arrested after being pulled from the sea in Margate this morning.

Police were called shortly before 8am to a concern for a woman in the sea near to Marine Drive in Margate.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of making false reports.

Police arrested the 15-year-old boy.

She remains in police custody.

UK Coastguard requested a lifeboat after the person was spotted in the water opposite Margate's Turner Contemporary.

Margate's RNLI lifeboat was out of service, and so Ramsgate's RNLI launched its lifeboat shortly after 8am.

While the lifeboat made its way to the scene, other shore-based emergency services were able to rescue the person from the water.

The lifeboat was stood down the the coastguard and returned to the station.
