Woman attacked by gang in Ethelbert Square, Westgate

A woman has been attacked by a gang who emptied her handbag.

Police are investigating following the terrifying incident in Ethelbert Square, Westgate.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers are investigating after an incident in which a woman was assaulted in Westgate on Saturday.

"At around 11pm the woman is reported to have been approached by three to four people in Ethelbert Square who assaulted her and emptied her handbag before running away.

"Nothing was stolen in the incident and inquiries are ongoing."

Police confirmed the victim had injuries to her face and arm.

Officers are continuing to work with the them on descriptions of the people.
