Woman hit by train in Margate dies from injuries

A woman seriously injured after being hit by a train in Margate has died.

The 59-year-old was airlifted to hospital following the incident at the train station just before 2.30pm on Friday.

Southeastern services were halted and passengers evacuated as emergency services arrived on the scene and an air ambulance landed close by.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the woman died from her injuries later that evening.

“Her next of kin have been informed and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

"A file is being prepared for the coroner."
