Woman hit by van at Westwood Cross shopping centre near Broadstairs seriously injured

A woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van at a busy shopping centre.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the collision in a car park at Westwood Cross near Broadstairs yesterday lunchtime.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and the woman was flown to a London hospital.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to a report of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian at about midday yesterday.

“Officers attended the scene in a car park in Westwood Road, Broadstairs, along with paramedics.

“A woman sustained serious injuries and was flown to a London hospital.

“A 38-year-old man from Aylesford was arrested in connection with the collision and has been bailed pending further inquiries.”
