Police called to Margate's Winter Gardens following assault

A woman was taken to hospital last night following an assault in Margate.

Police were called to the Winter Gardens in Fort Crescent at around 11pm to reports there had been an altercation.

The woman was found to be suffering injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report of assault at the Winter Gardens, Margate on Friday, July 19 at around 11pm.

"Officers attended the scene where a woman had suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

"Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing."

The venue hosted Bongo's Bingo last night, which sees players take part in dance offs and games while also playing the usual game.

It is not known if the victim of the assault was at the event.
