Margate: Teenage girl suffers fractured jaw in alleged assault in Cliftonville

A 19-year-old woman suffered a fractured jaw after allegedly being assaulted by a man.

Police received a report of an incident in Sweyn Road, Cliftonville, between 8pm and 8.30pm on Sunday.

A man, also aged 19 and thought to be known to the woman, from Margate, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The attack is being linked to a previous report of an assualt on the same night.

The suspect has been bailed until Ocotber 4 while inquiries continue.

Investigating officer detective constable Carl McGee said: "The victim and offender are known to each other and we believe the assault is linked to a previous report of an assault at a house in Ethelbert Crescent, Cliftonville, earlier that evening, which we are also investigating.

"We are following a number of lines of enquiry but would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident in Sweyne Road so we can establish exactly what took place.
