Armed officers have swooped on a town centre to arrest a man allegedly trying to break into a property with an axe.

A 28-year-old has been detained and remains in custody after police were scrambled to Kennedy House in Newcastle Hill in Ramsgate.

No one is thought to have been injured in the incident.

Police were called out to the man, who is from Ramsgate, at 10.31am.

Inquiries are ongoing.
