Margate fires: Two arson arrests over car and motorbike blazes

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a string of vehicle fires.

Police are investigating the incidents after firefighters were called to four blazes in the Margate area between 9pm and 11.20pm yesterday.

A motorbike was found alight in Hartsdown Road, and three cars were found on fire in Millmead Road, Selborne Road and Argyle Avenue.

A police spokesman said: "In the early hours of today, two men aged 20 and 24 from Broadstairs were arrested on suspicion of arson and were taken into custody while enquiries are ongoing.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious or has CCTV footage of any of the four fires to come forward."
