Arson attack at sports pavilion at Jackey Bakers Field in Highfield Road, Ramsgate

An investigation is underway after an arson attack at a sports pavilion in Ramsgate.

Crews arrived at Jackey Bakers Field in Highfield Road yesterday at around 6pm, to find a fire in the changing rooms of the pavilion.

The entrance of the building had also been damaged in the blaze.

Crews used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and the building was secured. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Kent Fire & Rescue Service confirmed an investigation is underway into the cause.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 6.27pm on Friday, October 22, to reports of a fire at Jackey Bakers Recreation Ground, Ramsgate.

"The fire was extinguished by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing."
