A man has told a murder jury how he watched from his lounge window as an assault victim was booted in the head.
Terence Young had been making dinner for his partner in his flat in Ethelbert Terrace in Margate when he heard men arguing outside.
Mr Young said: “I could see a man on the floor and two people bashing him. He was just lying there with his head (resting) on his arm. He looked unconscious.”
He prosecution has alleged that Avrimas Vilius, 24 and Klaudijus Klimanskis, 41, murdered Edvardus Barcevicius, 38, in July last year.
Canterbury Crown Court heard how Mr Barscevisius’s battered body was discovered under a duvet on a sofa in a room in Ethelbert Terrace.
Klimanskis and Vilius have both denied murdering Mr Barscevicius during what the prosecution has claimed was a “vicious” assault.
Mr Young said Kilmanskis was “ a biggish man” and Vilius was shorter and dressed in darker clothes.
He said: “They were bashing the man on the ground in the chest area. They were punching him. I don’t know how many times.
“They then stopped and began to walk away. Then Kilmanskis thought he was Alan Shearer taking a penalty.
"He took four or five steps and kicked the man (Mr Barcevisius) in the head.
“It was a pretty hard kick because the person on the floor seemed to move. It was like a jolt. That was aimed. The kick was meant.”
Mr Young told how he swore loudly at the men, imploring them to leave, and the two looked up and stopped.
He said a third man then came into the garden and tried to pick up Mr Barcevicius' arm but it just fell down.
“Then there were words and the two men attacked him as well, “ he said.
The body of Barscevicius was discovered days later lying under a duvet cover and Vilius is alleged to have been seen wearing “the dead man’s bright white trainers” after the attack.
Philip Bennetts QC claimed the victim, who was described as a quiet man, had been drinking with Vilius and Klimanskis in Margate.
He told the jury that an argument broke out after Mr Barscevucius was asked to look after the daughter of neighbour Jurgita Sukaityte and Vilius objected.
The trial continues.
