Margate Football Club's first player sponsors for the coming season are local rock band Chopper Nostrils.

Members of the band are sponsoring Margate captain Craig Cloke.

Three members of the five-man group - Matt, Steve and Jay - met the defender at the Hartsdown Road ground on Saturday before seeing him score in a pre-season friendly against Welling.

Matt said: "Thanet is very much home turf for us as we play at venues like the Red Lion in Ramsgate and Margate's own Britannia. So it's good to get involved with the community, especially when it's through football.

"We're supporting Craig and Margate - and are looking forward to a few pre-gig matches this year."
