Vienna Festival Ballet are bringing their new ballet this season -- one of the best-known rags-to-riches fairy tales, Cinderella -- to the Winter Gardens in Margate on Sunday March 27.
A mistreated young girl, a glass slipper, two comical ugly step-sisters and a handsome prince combine to make the perfect piece of story-telling.
With music taken from a vast array of the great Italian composer Rossini’s most famous operatic achievements, a magical melange of music has been put together that is sure to astonish and amaze.
Peter Mallek, Artistic Director, chose Chris Nicolls, a renowned conductor and musical director for ballet, to rearrange and rewrite the score for the ballet. The music was then recorded especially for the company by the leading orchestra in Kosice, Slowakia, conducted by Nicolls himself.
Audiences will recognise some of Rossini’s most famous operas, within the ballet , La Cenerentola, the Italian Girl in Algiers, Silken Ladder all add to the magical fantasy world of the ballet Cinderella.
Sheila Styles, one of the company’s most expert and idiosyncratic choreographers, from the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet has created through inspiration from the choice of music, and her talent for choreography and staging, a perfect ballet for Vienna Festival Ballet.
Based on the traditional story, the ballet will surely touch everyone’s heart, with its combination of pure classical dancing and a touch of pantomime.
