Ten-man Margate made it back-to-back wins with a battling victory at Billericay in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.
Gate overcame the 14th minute dismissal of John Keister (pictured), who was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle, to take all three points.
The visitors should have gone in front midway through the half when Leroy Huggins’ through ball found Sam Jones but he fired wide.
The game came to life early in the second half when James Pinnock was brought down by Chris Wild for a penalty. Nick Barnes stepped up and beat former Gate keeper Paul Nicholls from the spot.
Neither side created many further chances until Billericay levelled on the hour. Dave Wareham’s cross was handled by Barnes and Simon Thomas scored the penalty.
The winner came deep into stoppage time when ex-Gate defender Greg Oates hesitated in dealing with Jones’ long-ball. Pinnock was able to get a cross in that was pulled back by Dan Stubbs for Huggins to strike the ball home.
