Firefighters tackle house blaze in St Andrew’s Road, Ramsgate

Firefighters were at the scene of a house blaze which broke out this evening.

Residents living near St Andrew’s Road, in Ramsgate, have reported seeing thick black smoke billowing across the street.

Two fire engines and a fire service volunteer response team attended just before 6pm and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

She said: “As my daughters and I approached the firemen were already in masks and had oxygen tanks.

“We stood and watched as billows of black smoke poured out. As we watched, a second fire engine appeared and then attached a water hose.

“We crossed over the street and stayed back watching as thick black smoke continued to pour out.”
