A book called Sh*tsville UK has Viking Bay on its front cover - yet inside there is no mention of Broadstairs or its famous beach.
The book condemns the UK’s most “awful, vile, and disgusting” towns.
Author Monty Cantsin died in 2011, but he left behind a legacy in the form of enraged residents who have read his scathing and profanity-laden reviews of their home towns.
The book, published by the self-proclaimed counter-cultural publisher Carpet Bombing Culture, costs £9.95 and can be bought on Amazon.
On its website, Sh*tsville UK sets out its mission statement: “Hundreds of towns and cultural icons will be attacked, thus ensuring that everybody who has ever lived in the UK will want to pick up a copy and find out exactly what we say about them.”
If a Broadstairs resident were to pick up a copy however, they would find that their own town escapes any kind of mention.
Gary Shove, from Carpet Bombing Culture, said the decision to use Viking Bay as the book’s front cover image was “completely arbitrary” and that Broadstairs wasn’t even mentioned in the book.
When asked whether that picture was singled out for any particular reason, Mr Shove replied: “None whatsoever. Don’t get paranoid.”
