A body has been found in the search for a missing 58-year-old man.

Police were called to the Minnis Bay area of Birchington by the coastguard at about 12.40pm today.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic update comes after officers issued an appeal to find Graham Sharratt, who was last seen in Minnis Bay at about 1am today.

A police spokesman said: “Formal identification has not yet taken place.

“However, the family of a 58-year-old man who was reported missing earlier on the same day have been informed.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
