The body of a woman in her 70s has been found at a beach.

There was a major emergency services response in Kingsgate Bay, Broadstairs, following the tragic discovery this afternoon.

Police were called to a report that a body had been seen on the beach at 12.35pm today.

A spokesman said: "A woman in her 70s was declared deceased at the scene.

"No suspicious circumstances have been identified and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
