Explosives experts have been called to the former Manston Airport site after an unexploded device was found.
Bomb squad vans were called to the scene this morning and have remained there throughout the day, with personnel seen walking in the grounds.
An MOD spokesman said: "Our bomb disposal team are with police on the site.
"There is no threat to life and the device will be detonated in the coming days."
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 10.42am following the discovery of an unexploded wartime device on the site of the former Manston Airport.
"Officers are in attendance along with explosives experts from the British Army who are continuing to assess the scene."
