A bouncer who grabbed a clubber round the throat and hit him in the face has been ordered to pay compensation.
Doorman Lukasz Robakowski was working as security staff for The Gallery in Margate in the early hours of Friday, January 30 when he approached the victim, aged in his 30s, who was sitting down in the club.
Robakowski then grabbed him around the throat and hit him across the face.
As he tried to stand, Robakowski pushed him backwards, causing him to fall over a chair, before picking him up and ejecting him from the club.
During the unprovoked attack, which was caught on CCTV, the victim's glasses were broken and he also suffered cuts and bruising to his face, requiring hospital treatment.
Robakowski, 32, of St Luke's Close, Westgate-on-Sea, pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Folkestone Magistrates' Court.
He was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £250 in court costs, a £60 victim surcharge and £1,000 towards his victim.
Licensing officer for Thanet, PC Darren Dennett, said: "Violence is never acceptable but this incident was made worse by the fact that he was working in a position of trust as a licensed door supervisor, Robakowski's priority should have been to prevent crime and disorder.
"SIA licensed staff have a responsibility when working. Since this incident the premises has taken positive steps and introduced body worn cameras on their door supervisors."
A nightclub of a similar name in Maidstone has distanced itself from the incident.
A spokesman for Gallery Nightclub said: "We are very disappointed to hear of the incident relating to a door man at a venue in Margate with a similar name to ours.
"We would like to take this opportunity to send the victim our best wishes and also fundamentally confirm that we have absolutely no affiliation or connection with The Gallery in Margate."
