It will be the seventh branch in the county, and the only one in the Thanet district.

Wimpy currently has locations in Ashford, Dartford, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, Maidstone and Strood.

The signs in the old Birchwood kitchen, bathroom and bedroom shop state: “Wimpy coming soon. Feeling hungry?

“Your new Wimpy is under construction.”

In September 2023, the Bender in a Bun brand shut down its Chatham branch.

The Ashford restaurant has been closed for two years, however is set to reopen in 2025, with an exact date not yet confirmed.

Last year, Maidstone’s Wimpy closed its doors for almost six months for a refit.

The chain has been contacted for further information about the new Birchington branch.
