Ramsgate church theft - Kent Police appeal for witnesses

A burglar targeted a church and the property next door, it has been revealed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in St Augustine's Road, Ramsgate, on Sunday between 8.30am and 9.30am.

Police spokesman Natalie Hardy said: "Entry was gained to St Augustine's Roman Catholic church where a watch, cigarettes and a set of keys were reported stolen.

"It is thought the offender or offenders may have climbed over a gate.

"A man also entered a property next to the church around the same time that day where a satchel containing keys and cash was stolen."

Police also received a report of a theft of a purse in a public toilet close to St Augustine’s Road on Saturday.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 01843 222289 quoting references ZY/43870/16 for the church and ZY/43716/16 for the dwelling.
