A fun event in a Ramsgate pub on Friday (Oct 28) will have a serious side to it.

Tracy Bennett, pictured, is mum to a little girl who is three years in remission from kidney and lung cancer.

She is hoping that a Halloween party being held at the Bedford Inn in West Cliff Road, Ramsgate, on Friday will help her raise money for her campaign for parents to be given an information booklet about childhood cancers.

"My goal is to get the Government to give every person who cares for a child one of these booklets. It would have straight-to-the point, easy-to-understand information on all children's cancers, like the ages the cancers normally occur and signs to watch out for.

"Also there will be a link to websites with further information, plus helpline numbers etc. I'd also like a website where children who have cancer or are in remission could talk to other children about their fears, and support each other.

"All my designs for the booklet/website are being shown to the Health Minister to see if the NHS will fund this, or if it will have to be a charity."

The Halloween party is on from 8pm until late, with music by Centre Stage. There will also be a fancy dress competition, with a £30 prize, which will be judged at 9pm.

Tracy said: "I hope people will come along and have fun and support a worthwhile cause. If anyone wants to know any more, they can go to Amumscampaign.com or my Facebook page, A mum's campaign to save kid's lives from cancer."
