Four people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in which a car landed in a ditch.

The A299 Thanet Way became blocked on the London-bound carriageway between Birchington-on-Sea and Herne Bay, after the collision involving three vehicles just before 5pm

Motorists had been facing tailbacks from Wantsum Way with some saying they had "not moved for 30 minutes", and describing the traffic as “bumper to bumper”.

However, traffic conditions have since returned to normal following the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “This collision was reported to us at 4.45pm. It involved three vehicles.

“Officers and ambulance crews attended and four people were taken to hospital.

“None of their injuries were believed to be serious.”
