A car fire shut the busy A299 as fire crews and police battle to bring the situation under control earlier.
The Land Rover Discovery pulled into the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway with flames coming out from under the vehicle.
The incident happened near the St-Nicholas-at-Wade roundabout.
Melanie Hetfield was attending to her horses in the field next to where the fire started.
She said: "I was just doing the horses and saw a car quickly came to a stop.
"At first it looked like the radiator had over-heated because there was steam coming from the engine.
"We went over to try and assist and we saw flames coming out from underneath the car.
"The whole thing is completely burnt out now.
"When I saw it happening I stopped the traffic and phoned police."
Two fire engines were sent to battle the blazing vehicle.
Lane one of the A-road had been closed while the vehicle was recovered but the road is now open.
